APAC COO Office, Associate / Analyst
About this role
BlackRock is a leading global asset manager in the APAC region, offering a wide range of products to institutional and wealth clients. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Associate to join our APAC COO department. The APAC COO team plays a crucial role in definition and implementation of business strategies, collaborating closely with senior leaders. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing data analytics, business management, and various sales project management tasks. This role requires excellent communication abilities, strong change mindset, and the capacity to work collaboratively with global and regional stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
Assist senior team members in defining and executing key APAC strategic initiatives.
Take responsibility for managing a project workstream and working with cross-functional internal stakeholders to implement business, operations and talent strategy .
Perform gap analysis for various business initiatives and provide recommendations.
Collaborate with the Transformation team to implement firm-wide strategic initiatives.
Manage client and sales activity information in internal systems, and generate management information and analytical reports to aid team leads with budgeting, forecasting, and business strategy formulation.
Promote and incorporate the latest sales technologies and AI tools within the firm to enhance overall efficiency.
Candidate Requirements
3-5 years in Financial Services, preferably in asset management. Less experience may be considered for an Analyst role.
Proactive, self-driven with a focus on achieving business results.
Creative in adopting market trends and technology for efficiency. Experience with AI tools is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Confidence in engaging senior stakeholders and presenting to large groups.
Detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
Experience using analytics and a data-driven approaches to create solutions and planning.
Strong collaborator, ability to work cross-functionally.
Consistently seeks opportunities to enhance and optimize delivery, demonstrating a strong ‘can-do’ attitude.
Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential.
Programming skills (Python, SQL) are a plus but not required.
Pursuit of CFA or similar qualifications is favorable.

About this role
What team will you be on?
Our Securities Lending trading team generates alpha for clients across; scientific, fundamental and index products. We partner with portfolio managers to optimize returns through a variety of trade types. BlackRock is a pioneer of using quantitative techniques and sophisticated models to improve the performance of its Securities Lending business.

We are actively seeking an outstanding teammate to join our Securities Lending Trading team based in Hong Kong. With a focus on cutting edgetechnology and imbedded research, our investment management approach to lending provides superior performance for our clients and is an important part of the BlackRock brand. In this fast paced and dynamic environment, BlackRock is a pioneer of using quantitative techniques and sophisticated models combined with fundamental insights from traders to increase the performance of its Securities Lending business. We will look to you to actively contribute and drive the continued development.
Our Securities Lending Tradersexecute a critical role in relation to alpha generation and cost minimization for scientific, fundamental and index products. We partner with portfolio managers to optimize returns through a variety of trade types. Traders represent the firm for a selective group of markets or asset classes. They are the primary owner of BlackRock’s interface with top tier prime brokerage firms and counterparties and offer the premier securities finance product in the market today.
What will you be doing?
Actively trade and optimize BlackRock's APAC Equities and/or Fixed Income securities lending book for clients. You will be directly responsible for revenue generation and active performance management.
Actively build and implement trading strategies based on analysis of companies, sectors, and market variables. You will deliver market leading returns in a risk aware and controlled manner.
Be an excellent internal and external partner! You will develop, lead and build on internal & financing market relationships.
Build and lead partnerships with internal teams, including our global trading team to help drive efficiencies to improve revenue, performance and mitigate risks.
Be responsible for day-to-day administrative issues in support of trading activities and liaise with trading operations.
Work with internal Quantitative Research and Algorithmic Trading groups to innovate systems, trading analytics, and coordinate implementation.
Manage risk with strong attention to even the smallest details.
What are we looking for?
An outstanding teammate! Excellent communicator with first class relationship management skills is a given. You are also self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and positive team-orientated outlook.
2+ years of experience in Equities or Fixed Income / Securities Lending / Financing markets / Delta One Strategies is preferred. Knowledge of APAC markets is also advantageous.
Proficiency with Excel and experience in one or more of SQL, Python, VBA, Business Objects is strongly preferred.

Hong Kong Investment Risk Management Team
The Hong Kong RQA team primarily engages with the Fundamental Active Equities and Multi Asset Strategies & Solutions investment teams in Asia Pacific to deliver independent risk oversight, risk advice, and portfolio construction expertise.
The team provides quantitative analysis to assist with investment decision making, performance measurement, product and mandate design, and investor engagement.
The team supports a range of risk management initiatives alongside other RQA colleagues aligned with advancing BlackRock’s business goals.
What the RQA group at BlackRock has:
A team of outstanding risk managers partnering with portfolio management teams to oversee our clients’ portfolios
Global colleagues with subject matter expertise in investing, macroeconomics, financial modeling and strategy.
What you have:
A degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, engineering). Advanced degree or FRM / CFA designation or other industry certifications (or are working towards one) is preferred.
2+ years of work experience in a risk, analytics, or investment-focused role in the financial services industry.
A passion for applying quantitative techniques to real-world problems and being a student of the financial markets. An understanding of the fundamental principles of risk management is preferred.
An ability to communicate, influence & engage with stakeholders.
Good technical skills, and familiarity with BlackRock’s Aladdin risk system is a strong plus. An understanding of coding in Python would be viewed positively.
A strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Function as the risk manager for some of BlackRock’s Fundamental Active Equities and Multi Asset Solutions and Strategies portfolios across Asia Pacific and Emerging Markets.
Conduct risk management activities including regular risk reviews, ad-hoc analyses, and deep dives on risk or performance of portfolios.
Contribute to research related to markets and portfolio construction, and citizen development efforts to enhance analytical process.
Partner with BlackRock Solutions (BRS) to advance risk and performance attribution methodologies and tooling.
Build business relationships with stakeholders across investments, investment strategy, product and client functions.
