Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an event partnership & development strategy for Hong Kong in line with the HKTB business plan. This includes assessing and classifying confirmed 3rd party events related to entertainment, culinary, arts & culture, facilitating and supporting the staging of potential 3rd party events with tourism merits, and collaborating with event organisers to enhance the excitement of Hong Kong's event calendar and reinforce its destination appeal. 

  • Proactively source and identify potential world-class events, and facilitate their staging in Hong Kong to enhance the city's image and attract visitors over time

  • Support potential 3rd party events by providing government support, assisting with venue booking and search, and promoting them to overseas visitors

  • Solicit support from worldwide offices to generate participation from international markets

  • Coordinate with other functional teams to develop media, marketing, and trade plans that generate desirable media coverage, increase visitors' awareness, and encourage trade support and participation

  • Improve visitor satisfaction and enhance their experience by advocating for special provisions for overseas visitors, such as special entrances for tour groups and priority booking arrangements

  • Monitor the quality of events and ensure visitor satisfaction, encouraging positive recommendations and repeat visits

  • Support the incubation of potential events by providing necessary support and facilitation to help them become annual events contributing to tourism arrivals

 

Job Requirements

  • University degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, or related disciplines
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience, with 5 years at the supervisory level, demonstrating a proven record in event development and campaign marketing
  • Knowledge of the functionality and operation of various government departments and commercial sectors in tourism development and event management is preferred 
  • Strong commercial sense to understand market needs for event development and related products 
  • Highly motivated and independent, with the ability to identify high-yielding products, festivities, and world-class events from numerous options
  • Proven experience in developing and managing major territory-wide events, promotions, and campaigns in Hong Kong
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills to persuade stakeholders internally and externally to buy into new/repackaged quality events/products 
  • Strategic and creative mindset, excellent organizational and leadership skills, ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and manage time effectively
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese (Putonghua is an added advantage)
