The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is charged with the responsibility for maintaining the stability and integrity of the monetary and financial systems of Hong Kong. There is now an excellent opportunity for eligible candidates to apply for the following position:
Counsel
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the General Counsel whose office provides legal advice in relation to all aspects of the HKMA’s functions
- Provide legal advice to the Exchange Fund Investment Office of the HKMA in relation to all aspects of its investment activities, including transaction and project implementation and execution; pre-deal legal due diligence; and post-deal compliance monitoring
- Advise on other aspects of the HKMA's work as required
Requirements
- Duly admitted as a legal practitioner in a recognized jurisdiction as stipulated under the Legal Officers Ordinance
- At least 2 years’ post qualification experience (part of which may be gained overseas) in alternative investments, including private equity, real estate and infrastructure
- Experience in asset management, structured finance and derivative transactions an advantage
- General understanding of the financial services industry and financial markets
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills, highly motivated with ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
- Excellent command of spoken and written English; proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua an advantage
