Software Engineer (Backend Focus)

Your role

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to:

• provide technology solutions that will solve business problems and strengthen our position as digital leaders in financial services
• analyze business requirements for the Securities & Confirmations APAC crew of the Investment Banking division
• design, plan and deliver sustainable Cloud and microservice-based solutions using a modern programming language like Java
• apply software engineering best practices and standards to ensure our applications are robust, reliable, and secure
• provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new software projects and initiatives to support and enhance our existing applications in the reporting and other post-trade activities
• conduct code reviews and test software as needed, along with participating in application architecture and design and other phases of SDLC
• see that proper operational controls and procedures are implemented to process move from test to production

Your team

You’ll be working in the Hong Kong-based Emerging Markets Technology team, which is a part of the Technology division in the Asia Pacific region. We are a small but enthusiastic group of fellow developers solving problems and supporting our Operations teams in the Securities & Confirmations APAC area. As a Software Engineer, you’ll play an important part to deliver value to our users.

Your expertise

• ideally of 8 years of experience in Java in producing clean, stable, well-performing and secure code
• comfortable working in SQL and relational databases like Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle
• possess practical experience in skills like software testing, Dev Ops, Git and Cloud. Having a background in Azure and its services would be a major plus
• having experience in front-end (user interface) development using ReactJS, Vue.js or another modern JavaScript framework would be a nice-to-have as well
• C# would also be desirable but not required
• comfortable working in an agile model
• having experience and exposure to different platforms in Microsoft Windows and Linux, but if not, is willing to learn
• able design, plan, and deliver solutions in a large-scale enterprise environment
