We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as Regional Head of Liquidity Asia Pacific. This role will lead the liquidity team for the Asia Pacific region and having responsibility for setting the strategy for liquidity management, ensuring the liquidity policy is effectively implemented, owning liquidity stress testing, and ultimately steering the entity’s liquidity to ensure safe, yet efficient, management of liquidity from a first line perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with stakeholders across entities, functions and businesses to manage the end-to-end processes involved in liquidity management. This will include engagement with regulators, driving local forecasting, planning and overall liquidity steering. To enable this the role holder will need to work with those stakeholders to align existing practices, with a significant global book of work already underway.
  • Require a good understanding of the drivers of liquidity risk and how these elements relate to each other, constraining businesses in different ways, and in different circumstances. A solid understanding of the drivers of liquidity risk in a sophisticated financial markets business is especially important for this role.
  • Oversee a team based in Asia, and will require strong communication skills to lead that team, and ensure connectivity with regional and global colleagues. The role holder will need to be able to interact and communicate confidently with senior stakeholders, including the HSBC Asia Pacific (HBAP) CFO and members of the HBAP ALCO, Risk Committee and Board. 
  • By executing on the consolidation of optimisation activity, and by leveraging their understanding of the constraints, the role holder will be ideally positioned to identify opportunities to take the best ideas in one part of the bank and expose them to other parts of the bank where those ideas can be of additional value. 
  • Understanding of drivers of liquidity resources across multiple products can support better risk management decisions, optimisation and ultimately reduction in costs. Working with businesses to understand their products and explain liquidity constraints, can drive better cohesive decision making 
  • By providing central support to existing teams, and creating a more unified process 
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders within Entities, Global Businesses and Global Functions (e.g. business line FRM, Risk Analytics, HBAP CFO, Analysis & Insights etc)
  • Partner closely with the liquidity teams across Global Treasury
  • Actively participate in existing cross-functional working groups which today are driving optimization activity
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills by influencing others, including peers, senior management, colleagues within the regions/countries to removing barriers to change

Requirements

• Proven record of disciplined delivery across topics with a wide range of stakeholders. This could, though not exclusively, have been developed through leading transformations

Principal Responsibilities

  • Achieve agreed KPI objectives and profit growth through the development of existing HSBC client with both Retail/GPB relationships

Principal Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for leading, coaching, motivating and developing the Wealth and Personal Banking distribution teams to provide for the needs of domestic (islands) customers relating to their banking, lending and investment needs. 
  • The role holder will hold supervisory status with a focus on the local regulatory governance and HSBCs Risk Management Framework.

Principal Responsibilities

Role Purpose

HSBC Alternative Investments Ltd (‘HAIL’) is a wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC Global Asset Management (‘AMG’) specialising in alternative investment products. HAIL currently delivers a “best in class” offering of indirect alternative solutions in Hedge Funds, Private Markets and direct alternative solutions in Private Debt & Infrastructure Debt as well as direct real asset opportunities. These capabilities are accessible by our institutional and wholesale clients via funds, co-investment programmes and segregated mandates.

The Investment Specialist will work within the Hedge Fund Investment Specialists team, reporting directly to the Head of Hedge Fund Investment Specialists.  The individual will work with the Head of Investment Specialists, to support the growth of the Hedge fund business, champion the capability both internally and externally and help in the execution of the sales strategy for new and existing products and capabilities.

Key Accountabilities

  • The Senior Risk Manager, Operations role sits in the Operations team in HSBC Insurance HK’s Chief Operating Office. The role reports to the Head of Operations.
  • ORSO administration activities will be outsourced to a third party. This is considered a material outsourcing and it will be essential to have close oversight on this arrangement. The service provider is new to the HK market. Considering various factors such as materiality of the outsourcing, experience of the service provider, regulatory expectations, reputational impact etc. any issues with the outsourcing could have a significant impact to HSBC Life. Therefore the outsourcing needs to be managed closely to pre-empt issues and promptly address any issues that do occur. Overseeing and managing the ORSO administration activities that are outsourced will be a key responsibility of this role holder.
  • The role holder will need to work closely with the senior management of the third party to ensure that service standards are upheld and any issues are promptly addressed.
  • The role holder will also be responsible for the oversight and management of the risk associated with the various operational processes under Life and EB Ops. A focus area for the role holder would be Third Party risk. Third Party service engagements, including contractual agreements, risk assessment, on-going monitoring, and exit management on a day-to-day basis on behalf of Head of Ops in compliance with HSBC Policies and Regulatory requirements.
  • The role will require effective collaboration and alignment with second line risk functions such as Regulatory Compliance, Legal, Resilience Risk as well as teams such as Products, Distribution and IT.
  • The role holder is required to act in accordance with Group requirements detailed in Group Standards Manuals (GSM), Functional Instruction Manuals (FIM), and any other applicable standards.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for Service(s) received from the third party and interact directly with the Third Party in relation to the Service(s) received on behalf of the entity
  • Complete Third Party risk assessments and understand the risk assessment result for a proposed third party Engagement prior to contract award
  • Manage the risks associated with the Third Party engagement(s) and understand the implication of responsibilities and regulatory requirements if any issues / concerns identified with the services being received
  • Complete Third Party control due diligence tasks on a timely basis in accordance with HSBC Policies
  • Establish and agree KPIs with the third party

As Senior Legal Counsel in the Asia-Pacific Commercial Banking Legal team, you will provide legal advice, guidance and support to HSBC’s Innovation Banking and Venture Debt team in Commercial Banking (CMB).

  • The successful candidate will report to the Deputy General Counsel, CMB ASP and will be based in Hong Kong.
  • The candidate will have primary responsibility for providing legal and transactional support to HSBC’s HK Innovation Banking team; and (ii) Commercial Banking’s Asia-Pacific Venture Debt and Fund Financing businesses. 

Principal Responsibilities 

  • Providing day-to-day legal advice directly with senior stakeholders in the innovation banking business focusing on the innovation economy and innovation businesses through all of their life stages from early-stage, growth, through late-stage public and private corporates
  • Provide timely counsel and legal support on implementing early and mid-stage venture and growth lending structures, including venture debt, inventory and recurring revenue-based lines of credit, and asset-based financing
  • Support fund banking, including implementation of capital call and NAV facilities
  • Provide support on the end-to-end cycle (e.g., origination, structuring, drafting, negotiation, execution and implementation) of venture debt transactions in a cost-effective manner
  • Negotiation of venture lending documents, including equity warrants, NDAs, term sheets, inter-creditor, subordination, and other facility agreements
  • Support relationship managers in the start-up innovation hubs like Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, India and Malaysia;
  • Collaborate with HSBC Innovation Banking lawyers in other innovation centres globally to facilitate global standards for the Innovation Banking proposition, to share knowledge and experience and to facilitate in the management of global law firm relationships
  • Ensure senior management within legal and business teams is fully briefed on material legal issues arising in Innovation Banking
  • Work independently, but seek management input on unusual situations, highly complex issues, and matters that may pose significant legal, financial and/or reputational risk to the bank
  • Manage (and instruct) panel law firms and legal spend
  • Maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships within the wider HSBC legal department and within Innovation Banking and CMB Credit & Lending legal teams in HK and globally

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with solid post-qualification experience gained in a relevant jurisdiction
  • The successful candidate should have:
    • At least 7-10 years of experience in in one or more Asia-Pacific jurisdictions in the following areas
      • Funds financing
      • Venture debt financing
      • Syndicated and club lending
  • Curiosity, flexibility, growth mindset and a genuine desire to contribute to a growing and dynamic team
  • A commercial and pragmatic approach to providing legal and risk advice to the business
